In the peak season you will share a leopard sighting with six or eight other vehicles. That is not romance. That is traffic.

Nyerere National Park, in the old Selous ecosystem of southern Tanzania, flips that equation. It is the largest national park in Africa, receives a fraction of the visitors, and is designed around a handful of small, private camps rather than mass tourism. On one morning during your stay, we will pack a full breakfast into cool boxes, drive you out before sunrise, and set up a table for two in a quiet bend of the Beho Beho river system. Coffee, fresh fruit, eggs cooked over the fire. Nothing around you but bush, sky and the first elephants coming down to drink.

Every dinner at Porini is served under an open sky. Our chef plates three courses using fresh ingredients flown in from Dar es Salaam. We can lay the table by the fire, out in the dry riverbed, or on a private deck looking toward the bush. You tell us what feels right. We make it happen.

The Seclusion Factor

Porini sits along the Beho Beho River, in a quiet section of Nyerere National Park that sees very few other vehicles. On a typical safari day, you will spend six or seven hours in the bush and not see another car. Nobody to share your leopard with. Nobody to interrupt the conversation.

Planning Your Honeymoon Itinerary

A typical Porini honeymoon runs 4 to 6 nights. We recommend combining this with 3 to 5 nights on the coast of Zanzibar for the classic "bush and beach" pairing that most safari honeymooners want. Flights from Beho Beho airstrip to Zanzibar take about 90 minutes and can be arranged as part of your booking.
